The treatment's goal is to bring your body to an aligned, centered, aware place. I create a holistic experience, focusing on the entire body to make you feel more at home within yourself.
First, I look at your body as a whole. I examine how you stand and look at your body movements. I want to see how you use your body and where your discomfort lies, this is how I learn where to best focus the treatment.
Feeling the resistance of your muscles with my hands, I look for trigger points that have specific or radiating pain in your body. These points can impact your movement or muscle tightness, which ultimately affects your entire body. I focus on these muscles, joints, or tendons that have less mobility.
The body works in tandem - one thing always affects another. I listen for your breathing and its effect on your body. One of my main focuses is asymmetry in the body. My goal is to align the body to eliminate compensations, which occur when the body needs to overwork in one area in order to counterbalance a weaker spot. I can feel these imbalances with my hands and work on them with you to better align your body.
By the end of your treatment, you will have the urge to hold your body better and maintain that center. Your body will grow accustomed to this feeling of alignment and you will seek that feeling over and over again, even without me. But, in order to reach that point, we need to start somewhere.
After treatment, I will send you a list of recommendations based on your specific needs. Workouts that are best for you, advice for a more ergonomic workstation, and small behavioral changes that will help you maintain your alignment.
You will be learning new body sensory memory in the way that you perceive yourself. Repetition is the key to this pattern.
